November 2023

Prototype for a larger artificial reef sculpture Created as a sigil and ecological intervention to revitalize the oyster population in the Hudson River Estuary. Oyster larvae grow on other oyster shells and will propagate on the sculpture to form complex geometries over time. The oysters are a keystone species in the Hudson Valley, enriching wildlife biodiversity and serving as shoreline stabilizers. They are natural filter feeders, a single oyster filtering around 50 gallons a day.
